Welcome to “Beervana” or the USA’s microbrew capital! Portland has more microbreweries per capita than any other American city.

Therefore, no visit to Portland is complete without visiting a few of the nearly 40 breweries.  Several fabulous choices are within walking distance of our hostel.
Here’s a walking tour of our favorite brew pubs and breweries: from the hostel, head up Glisan St. to NW 21st Ave. to the Blue Moon (1 of 70 pubs owned by 2 “laid back” brothers, the McMenamins); continue up Glisan, right on NW 23rd Ave. to the New Old Lompoc (nice outdoor beer garden; 1616 NW 23rd Ave.); head back on NW  23rd Ave. and turn left on Pettygrove Street, then left on NW 20th Ave., and right on NW Quimby Street to Lucky Lab Beer Hall (bring your dog or at least a photo!); from here, go south and turn left on Marshall Street. At NW 13th Ave, enter Portland’s first microbrewery BridgePort (they do brewery tours); now head south along NW 11th Ave. to the corner of Davis St. to the Deschutes Brewery (amazing building); lastly, backtrack on 11th Ave., take a left on Flanders 2 blocks to The Rogue Brewery & Ale House (their beers win a lot of awards, they do tours, and hostel gusts get 75¢ off a pint). Drink moderately and walk safely!
