Kim webpageWelcome to the city of Roses!  I grew up in Oregon’s “wine country,” in the heart of  the Willamette Valley, in the town of Newberg.  At 15 I went seeking a faster paced life and after bouncing around a bit settled in Portland.  I have been here ever since.  I love Portland because it doesn’t feel like your typical city, there is a lot of nature and beautiful spaces throughout that provide a perfect balance to the the super urban parts.  I have a travel “bucket list” that includes, a gondola ride in Venice, and a trip to Egypt to see the pyramids, however I love it so much here in Portland that my need to go anywhere else at this time isn’t that great. Portland has a huge activist scene and my short term goals focus more on getting involved with the Portland Community and joining the local comedy circuit in pursuit of working on my comedic craft.

What are the best ways to embrace a rainy day in Portland?

I love the rain, I soak it up like a little shrub and find the sound and visual experience of it soothing. I like to go the local pubs that have covered and heated outdoor seating areas and just chill with a hoodie and a gut warming adult beverage. A lot of my favorite ones also have a lot of great pin ball and arcade games to choose from. Three of my favorites are East Burn, Ash Street Saloon and Paymaster lounge.

What do I like best about working at our hostel?

The hostel has treated me better than any other place I have worked in the past, I really feel like I am apart of a family. The hostel is incredibly GREEN and invovled with the community , so it’s nice to be apart of a place that is really making a difference.

Whats a Quirky or unusual fact about you?

My nickname is “Kimmy coldcheese”, my friends call me this because I have such a great love for cheese that I have been caught sleep walking and eating cheese out of my friends refrigerators at night. what can I say sweet dreams are made of cheese!
