MLK Service Challenge: A Month of Service

Thursday, December 28, 2017

For the 3rd year in a row we are challenging our neighbors, our guests and ourselves to volunteer more! During the month of January we do a big push in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of service to others. Last year we had over 100 hours logged. Here are the details:

During this month, let us know where/how you volunteered, for how many hours and your name so that we can post it on our Hall of Helping Hands. You can share your volunteer information a few ways. Email Meghan at or click on our downloadable version of the Helping Hands PDF. Fill out a hand or two and deliver them to the front desk at the Hostel 479 NW 18th (open 24 hrs).

This display shows us what we can accomplish if we all give a little and displays to our world travelers how easy it is so give back to communities you are a part of. Whether you’re a part of a community for a day or a decade, collective efforts to make the world a better place is imperative.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
